THE transport convenor of Glasgow Corporation is to put before his committee a proposal to abolish the tramway system, which is said to be one of the finest in the world. He suggests replacing the trams by Dieselelectric buses, which can run either under their own power or by drawing electric power from overhead wires. It is stated that these vehicles are working successfully in Several American cities and that they would be ideal for a city like Glasgow.
