HAROLD WOOD TO TRY BIGGER ARTICS.: Harold Wood and Son.s Ltd. has ordered 20 A.E.C. Mercury and Mandator tractive units. Ten of each have been ordered, the Mercurys being for use with 3,000-gal, tanker semi-trailers on contract work for Petrofina Ltd., whilst the Mandators which will be powered by A.E.C. AV690 192-h.h.p. engines are to be operated as an experiment to study the use of maximum-capacity tanker artics.

JET EXPAND WITH A.E.C.: A further nine six-wheeled A.E.C. chassis have been ordered by Jet Petroleum Ltd.. through Oswald Tillotson Ltd., Burnley. The order is for three Mustangs to be fitted with 3,400-gal. tanks and six Marshal 6 x 2 chassis which are also to be fitted with tanker bodies.

DOVES FOR MEAT: The Corporation of Argentine Meat Distributors has ordered 23 Austin chassis with Dove Distributor van bodies. The order includes six 5-tanners, seven 3-tonners and 10 30-cwt. vehicles which will be used on the transport of fresh, chilled and frozen meat.

ATLANTE,4N5 FOR PORTUGAL: A £120,000 order placed by Oporto Municipality, Portugal, with Leyland Motors Ltd. calls for 30 Atlantean rear-engined doubledeckers with semi-automatic gearboxes. The buses will be assembled at Leyland's new factory at Setubal near Lisbon. The Municipality has taken delivery of 10 Atlanteans ordered under an earlier contract and is about to place these in service.

FOR MORE PINTAS: A £60,000 repeat order has been placed with Albion Motors Ltd. by the Milk Marketing Board for 27 Albion Clydesdale 9-tanners for the bulk collection of milk from farms.

BUS CHASSIS FOR CARPETS: Rolled carpets up to 10 ft. in length will be carried vertically by a Leyland Titan PD2A.27 bus chassis which has been ordered by Axminster Carpets Ltd., Devon. This chassis was specified for its low frame height, enabling it to carry a body with adequate interior height yet keep the overall height to a minimum. '

GREYHOUND ORDER: Greyhound Corp., the American. bus operator, has ordered 475 single-decker buses from General Motors, at a cost of £77 m. The vehicles are to be delivered between March, 1963. and April, 1964. Greyhound has also taken an option to purchase an additional 100 buses
