rHANGES are likely to be made in the rules governing the transporting of animals. Mr. Christopher Soames, Minister of Agriculture, told the Commons this week that officials from his department and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland had prepared proposals for revising and con solidating the various Transit of Animals Orders, and further provisions on the feeding and watering of animals in transit by road, rail and sea. Work on these was proceeding.

But, added Mr. Soames, he did not think 'it would be practical to try to limit
