The traffic receipts of the Bath Electric Tramways for the year loos show an increase of nearly J.:3,000, and a not inconsiderable proportion of this is accounted for by the running of motor omnibuses as feeders.

Messrs. A. C. and E. R. Nash, of Lechlade, Cirencesler, have carried on the motor omnibus service between Cireacester and Fairford since May of 19°4 with increasingly satisfactory results. Says the "Railway News" :—" The use of motor omnibuses and motor wagons as a means of establishing ccanmunication between the railways and towns and villages which are situated at some distance from a station has steadily grown in favour during the past year, and most of the leading companies have inaugurated one or more service of this kind. Of course, difficulties have been experienced from mechanical defects in the construction of sonic of the vehicles, as well as from the rough condition of the roads in some districts, but it seems probable that roadmotor services, organised by the railway companies, will largely supersede the light railway as a means of developing districts hitherto inadequately provided with means of cornmuidcation. "

Omnibus companies will have read with interest the report of our recent interview with the managing director of the Asiatic Petroleum Company, in the course of which a guarantee was given that contracts would be inade at a fixed price for three years ahead. Companies which are operating public service vehicles cannot afford to take any risk in respect of fuel supplies, and we strongly urge all managers to cover at least half their requirements ahead. There is much to be said in favour of that policy, because, however the market goes, the purchaser will be protected. It is, admittedly, annoying for anybody to know that a competing company has covered its supplies ahead at front lid. to id. per gallon less than present market prices, but they are merely reaping the reward of their own acumen. The next council and general meetings of the Society of Motor Omnibus Engineers will be held on February 12tH.

Mr. Christopher Dodson, of 45, Horseferry Road, Westminster, S.W., has found it desirable, owing to the great strides which have been made by the motor-omnibus industry, to form his company into a limited liability company. This is practically a family arrangement, and no subscriptions for capital are being invited. Mr. Dodson will conduct the business himself, as heretofore, but in the capacity of managing director.

The tramways committee of the Derby Town Council has decided to spend Li ,9o2 195. id. in order to double the existing single line of track along the road leading to the site where the Royal Agricultural Society of England will hold its annual show in June next. Thici expense seems rather disproportionate, having regard to the fact that. the show will last for less than one week, and motor omnibuses might have been introduced with advantage.
