Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

vehicle was sluggish in its return, but slack in the brake actuator shackle pin showed that the stiffness lay in the brake shaft. This must be greased with no more than one shot from the hand gun, otherwise grease will reach the,.. brake linings.

Although the slack adjuster itself is greased, the shackle pin should be oiled. At Normands, they used to lubricate it with a dollop of grease, but this does not penetrate, and tends to attract grit and act more like grinding paste than grease. The rear axle breather, on the offside of the axle, is cleaned at every service.
