Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE HEALTH and Safety Executive has published a booklet giving guidance on electrical installations in motor vehicle repair premises.

The booklet highlights some of the problems which in the past have led to serious and fatal accidents, including unsatisfactory insulation in pits containing petrol vapour, hand lamps and other electrical apparatus left in a dangerous condition and damp areas in garages. Subjects covered include wiring, switchboards and distribution boards, flammable vapours, arc welding, batteries and chargers, steam and pressure cleaners and the maintenance of electrical equipment.

Officially designated Guidance Note PM37, "Electrical installations in motor vehicle repair premises" the booklet is available at HMSO or booksellers and costs £1.
