ceeding along progressive lines. The company have added, as before, £500 to the reserve. account, and they are Carrying forward £1,000 more than was brought in. So far as investments are concerned, tho money invested in War, Loan has been increased from 25,000 to , £22,500, thus showing a satisfactory and strong position, while the cash at the bank amounts to 2,8,473. Taking
B38 cash and investments together, the company have .231,160, as against £24,680 a. year earlier. It was stated that a saving of over £1,000, or, roughly, 18 per cent., had been effected on general expenses. The net receipts, alter providing for renewals, show an increase of 21,600, and the company are to pay a. dividend at the rate of 10 per .cent., which will absorb 28,590, leaving a balance of £5,458 to be carried forward, A reduction of 7 per cent. on the traffic receipts on the company's vehicles is recorded, and it was pointed out that. every effort had been made to reduce expenditure. One of the. chief sources of saving has been the lower cost of petrol, and during the current year it is hoped that further economies in this connection would be secured. The reduction in expenses had made it possible to make ponsiderable reductions in area on many of the company's services, whilst the public has also token advantage of return tickets issued on many routes, and, as a matter of feet, 198,000 tickets of this description were issued during the year. The use of return tickets should be tried in London.
