• An Italian truck driver has been fined £450 after being arrested on the M62 for driving excessive hours and operating a vehicle with faulty brakes and a defective tyre.
Guiseppe Abate of Naples was also ordered to pay £30 costs when he appeared before Bury magistrates.
Defending, Noel Trussler said that Abate had not realised just how serious the brake problems were.
