Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A semi-trailer especially for carrying big caravans and yet with enough versatility to carry other loads on return trips has been introduced by the Primrose Third Axle Co Ltd, Blackburn, Lancs. Of single-axle design with a 15-ton load capacity, it is being added to the regular production range of Primrose trailers.

Monoleaf suspension, double-boarded flooring and a Thompson electric winch are all standard features and the first production model, 45ft long, went into service this month with Geoff Holden (Caravans) Ltd, Accrington, Lancs.

The trailer has deliberately been made strong enough for use as a transporter of other wheeled loads, such as contractors' plant. Unladen, it weighs just over 5 tons, affording a payload of 14+ to 15 tons within its design gross weight of 20 tons.

Using push-buttons attached to a plug-in wander lead to the electric winch the driver can guide a caravan while he is controlling the winching.

The trailer frame is of open truss type, with cross-bearers closely spaced so that the platform can withstand concentrated loads. The whole deck slopes backwards and there is an extra degree of slope at the tail to • bring the loading height down to 33in.

Two 24ft-long light-alloy loading channels are supplied with the trailer, and two roomy tool chests slung under the platform carry the lashing chains and hydraulic jack required for loading operations.
