He has been connected with Leyland Motors, Ltd., and the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., and since the war has been with Hovis, Ltd., and Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers, Ltd., as a transport executive. MR. C. M. VIGNOLES has been appointed a clirector of Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd.

MR. FREDERICK SMITH, Kinst.T., Finst.T.A., has been elected deputy president of the Institute of Traffic Administration.

MR. H. DREW assistant chief engineer and director of Vauxhall Motors, Ltd:, has been appointed chief engineer, in succession to MR. C. E. KING, who is now director of engineering.

Cot, A. JERRE11, president of, the Traders' Road Transport Association, and Mat F. D. Firz-GERALo, national secretary, are in Geneva to attend meetings of the International Road Transport Union.

MR. L. C. HARRISON was elected chairman of the South-western centre of the Institute of Traffic Administration at its inaugural meeting last week. MR. W. S. WILKINSON was elected vicechairman and MR. L. ALDERMAN secretary.

MR. A. W. RALLPIKE is thc new general manager of the motor constructional department of The Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co., Ltd. He replaces MR. A. J. ROMEI in this capacity. Mr. Hallpike has been connected with A.E.C., Daimler and de Havilland and since 1942 has been works manager of Dennis Bros., ,Ltd. MR. A. F. BENTALL, technical officer (trams and trolleybuses) to London Transport, has retired. His responsibility for design matters is passed to MR. LW. WICKS, M.I.Mech.E., whilst his dutiei at Fulwell" depot have been taken 'over by MR. J. SCHOFIELD, M.C.
