COACH FARES RAISED TOO SOON UlANY people who booked return 01 coach tickets from Edinburgh and Glasgow to London during October were overcharged 10s. Now the companies—Scottish Omnibuses, Ltd., and the Western S.M.T. Co., Ltd.—are having to refund the money.

The mistake arose because new fares, not due to come into force until December 1, were charged from October 1. Permission to raise the fares was given only on October 13 by the Scottish Licensing Authority, after hearings in Edinburgh and Glasgow. This allowed for the abolition of the £2 10s, return fare from Edinburgh and Glasgow, and the issue only of single tickets at 30s.
