Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The following major roadworks could cause delays to operators and drivers, and should be borne in mind when route planning. CM's roadworks report compiled with the help of the Department of Transport and the AA Roadwatch unit.

• MI Greater London. Between Junctions 1 and 2, repairs will reduce the southbound carriageway to a single lane every day between 10.00-22.0()hrs. Works will last until June 6.

• Ml Herts. Between Junctions 8 and 9 (Hemel Hempstead and Harpenden/A5), there will be various closures on both carriageways for a distance of up to 41an (2.5 miles) for major maintenance. Work will continue until October 1986 and moderate delays are likely.

• M1 Northants. At Junction 18 (Rugby/AS) the northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads are closed until June. Diversions are in operation.

• Rothersthorpe Services. MI Northants. Operators are reminded that work at Junction 16 (Ileyford) has meant the closure of Rothersthorpe Services. The northbound side will be shut until June 8. The southbound site will remain closed until June 22. Warning signs at the adjacent service areas (Watford Gap and Newport Pagnell) will give advance warning of the closures.

• M25 Herts. Between Junctions 23 and 24 (Al interchange and Potters Bar). Gantry installation work will cause the closure of the hard shoulder and inside lane on both carriageways.

• M20 Kent between Junctions 7 and 8 until the end of the year, the right hand lane of both carriageways will be closed for a distance of Skin (3.1 miles). Moderate delays can be expected.

• MO Lancs. Between Junctions 32 and 33 (ACVGarstang and Lancaster), the southbound carriageway will be closed except for the hard-shoulder which acts as the driving lane. The right-hand lane of the northbound carriageway will operate as a contraflow for southbound traffic. Closures cover some 4kin (2.5 miles).

• M56 Cheshire. Between Junctions 6 and 9 (Wilmslow and M6 interchange) the eastbound carriageway will be closed until mid August. A contraflow scheme will operate on the west-bound carriageway and moderate delays • M50 Hereford and Worcs. Between Junctions 2 and 3 (Ledbury and Newent) the eastbound carriageway will be closed until June 14. A contraflow scheme will operate on the westbound section. Closures cover a distance of 4.5km (2.8 miles) and moderate delays are expected.
