LONGLIFE GROOVES

• Uniroyal Tyres has introduced a new tubeless monoply tyre for steered axles. It claims it will give up to 20% more tread life than competitive makes and the R4OE allposition tyre from which it is derived.

With its three major grooves and wide shoulders, the R200's flat tread contour provides a 6% larger footprint area and offers improved shoulder wear resistance.

It will retail at around 2330; is available in 11R 22.5, 12R 22.5,295/8R 22.5 and 315/8R 22.5 sizes; and will compete directly with Michelin's XZA, and Goodyear's 291 tyres.

The R200 is registered with the Department of Transport as suitable for regrooving a further 3mm at the 2mm minimum tread depth. It can he fitted to any axle, but, in line with common practice, will normally he used on either drive or rear steer axles.

Uniroyal's new tyre is also recommended for use on coaches, front or rear, and to trailer axles.
