David Lloyd Jones will be retiring as chairman of United Transport Company Ltd. He has accepted the office of president.

Mr Lloyd Jones joined the United Transport Group in May 1937, became Managing Director in 1959 and Chairman in 1968.

He will be succeeded as chairman by Geoffrey A. H. Watts joined United Transport Company in 1946, became a director in 1948 and managing director in 1 976. Mr Watts is a member of the board of The British Electric Traction Co. Ltd.

Arthur Kent, CMG, OBE, who joined the group in 1966 and has been a director of the company since 1974; has been appointed managing director also with effect from the 9th July 1980. Graham Mayhew has been appointed company secretary of Hants and Dorset Motor Services and the Gosport &

Fareham Omnibus Company.

He is at present Hants & Dorset's assistant secretary/ accountant and will succeed D. G. Finley who retires in June.

He was previously employed in the costing department of the Ford Motor Company and became Hants & Dorset's assistant company secretary in 1977.

In 1957 he was with Aberdeen Corporation as a rolling stock engineer before joining Dundee Corporation.

Ray Murphy has been appointed marketing and sales manager of Whittle International Movers Ltd, Preston, which this year celebrates its centenary in the removals and storage industry.

He was formerly product manager for Warrington New Town Development Corporation.

Managing Director of the new Irish National Truck Rental Company is Charles Ryan who was formerly the General Manager of Dan Ryan Truck Rental. He has had extensive exp rience in the industry in North America with Hertz and Ryder. Jim Byrne who is sales director with National is also a former Dan Ryan executive.
