cars and motorcycles, registered for the first time in March was 17,861, bringing the total for the first three months of the year to 50,016. In the " other goods" category, covering the majority of lorries and vans operated by other than special users, 9,045 petrol, 2,800 oil and 214 electric vehicles went on the roads in March compared with 7,071, 1,850 and 153 respectively in the preceding month.

Hackney vehicles newly registered in March totalled 569, compared with 326 in February. Details appear below.
