40 Carlisle city council is now negotiating with a firm of developers for the creation of what may be the first of the national network of government-approved heavyvehicle parks with security, accommodation and catering, on council-owned land at Kingstown, near the northern end of M6. The plans, which include hotel-type single rooms, have already been approved by the city council, as the planning authority.
