Mr. Logette took the chair for the conference, and the draft rules, after further amendment, were adopted. The conference was then dissolved and the first meeting of the National Council commenced, the following seven associations being the initial members :—

Mr. Kerslake proPosed and Mr. Dobbs seconded that Mr. Logette be elected chairmanfor the ensuing year, ending January 31st; 1932; and; there being no 'further. nominations, the proposal was carried • unanimously. Although the rules provide for more than one vice-chairnian, it, was decided to

• appoint only one at present. Mr. C'. Thomas, of the South Wales Association, was .unanimously' elected. Mr. D. Piercy, secretary of the M.H.C.S.A., was asked to act 'ak IonoritrY secretary to the National Council; and intimated his acceptance. .

The chairman stated that the M.H.C.S.A.expressed its .willingness to place its* offices and clerical staff at the disposal of the council until such time as it was found possible to make different arrangements and, as a gesture of independence, it. was agreed that the council should pay the association £10 as a consideration for these facilities for the first six months, the matter to be reconsidered later.

• There was some discussion as to how the preliminary expenses of the associations in attending conferences, etc., culminating in the formation of the National Council, should be borne, and

it was unanimously agreed that the council should bear only the legal costs which had been incurred. In accordance with Rule 9, it was decided that the next meeting of the council shall be held in London on April 14th.

The National Council, which has at, last come into existence, represents a large number of the independent coach and motorbus owners in the country, and has a tremendous amount of work before it.
