HEN present contracts expire Jet
. Petroleum, Ltd., who are marketing cheaper petrol in the Midlands, will be invited to tender for bulk_ supplies of fuel oil to Birmingham Transport Department, Aid. L. Chaffey, chairman, transport committee, announced this last week when he replied to a letter from CBI% A. T. Pugh, which suggested that the cheaper fuel could save Birmingham about 1144,000 a year.
The existing contracts would not be completed until the end of the present year. The transport committee would then welcome tenders from let Petroleum or any other suppliers who were able to comply with the department's specifications, said Ald. Chaffey.
Reductions of Id. per gallon in the recommended retail prices of certain grades of motor spirit came into operation on Tuesday. The National Benzole Co., Ltd., reduced the prices of Super National Mixture and Dominion, and Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd., adjusted the prices of Super Shell, Shell-Mex, B.P. Super Plus and B.P.
Wholesale prices of Shell and RP. Super, and National Benzole Mixture, have been increased by d. per gallon.
