With the staggering array of safety equipment and driver aids on the market, it can be hard to make a decision on what's worth investing in to improve safety, and what will just be a distraction for your drivers.

So, with the intention of doing a bit of the hard work for you. CM spent a day with a selection of fleet managers and engineers at a Haldex and International Road Safety Training (IRST) demonstration day.

Truck handling

The demo was based on three areas using a skid pan, a tanker on a rig and a polystyrene 'concrete' wall. Each was designed to show how a truck will handle without any driver aid as well as provide the opportunity to compare the results with the all the electronic aids switched on. •
