The warning was given to experts at the European Commission last week by Richard Turner, chief executive at the Freight Transport Association, when it met them to discuss the issue.
However, he says it has become clear that the EC "won't do anything to derail the current legislation. They are not worried that tacho manufacturers have missed specification deadlines, and believe there is enough time before its introduction in August 2004. It needs to clear up the confusion."
