• Modifications to half-barrier level crossings are now being introduced; they include new road signs and additional warning lights and signals. There are 204 such crossings in Great Britain and British Railways and the MoT are jointly launching a summer-holiday-time publicity campaign through the Press, radio and television to draw the changes to the attention of the general public.'
A demonstration of one of the first of the new automatic crossings, at Ripe, near Lewes, Sussex, is to be held on July 29.
