The largest single order comes from McKelvie and Co. Ltd., of Paisley, who are purchasing 30 of the heavy Mandator tractive units. Other operators figuring in the orders are J. and A. Smith of Maddiston : Hugh ClelLand and Sons; Sam Anderson (Newhouse) Ltd.: James Kemp (Leslie) Ltd.: Central Garages (3athgate) Ltd.: and Scottish Tar Distillers.

MORE FOR B.R.S.: BriaSIT Road Services has ordered 96 A.E.C. Mercury and Mandator chassis, comprising 40 Mandator • tractive units, 50 Mercury tractive units and six Mercury load carrying units.

SCAMMEE,LS FOR BURMA: The Burma Oil Co. (1954) Ltd. has ordered two Scammell all-wheel-drive Constructors for service in the Burma oilfields. They will be 30 tanners, powered by 200 b.h.p. diesel engines and equipped with 60,000-lb.capacity winches.

ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-TWO FOR GLASGOW: Glasgow Corporation transport committee has accepted a tender from Leyland Motors Ltd. for 162 Ailantean bus chassis. at a cost of 1473,526.

MORE AVE1.11s1G-BARFORD DUMP TRUCKS: Orders recently received by Aveling-Barford Ltd. for SN-type dump trucks amountto a total of 32, worth some £570,000. Another 10 SN.30-ton dump trucks will be supplied to the Aswan High Dam project; six SN.35 ton models have been ordered by the Commissariat a lEttergie Atomiutie (French, Atomic Energy Authority); Carrieres de l'Ouest, France, has ordered four SN.35 models; Cockburn Cement, of Western Australia (a subsidiary of the Rugby Portland Cement Co.) has ordered two; and Derek Crouch Ltd., has ordered 10 of the same model for the recently announced anthracite coal open-cast site at Abercrave in South Wales.

POWER STATIONS ON WHEELS: Centrax Ltd., of Newton Abbot, who recently introduced a 400 kilowatt mobile electricity generating set based on an A.E.C. Mercury chassis, has ordered another seven Mercury chassis to be used for the same purpose. The generating-set is powered by the Centrax 600 s.h.p. industrial gas turbine, and is intended for either intermittent or continuous duty. The chassis is equipped to haul a tanker drawbar trailer containing fuel for the gas turbine.

MORE SEMI-TRAILERS FOR B.R.S.: British Road Services has placed orders for 35 Scammell fifth-wheel coupling 10-ton flat platform semi-trailers, 20 of which will be 26 ft. long and the remainder 24 f1. long.
