'TWO faults which can mar a sprayed I surface are blushing and blooming. The cause can usually be traced to an excess of moisture in the air, which deposits a film on the cellulose surface. This happens when the temperature of the shop is higher than that of the cellulose film, a condition brought about by the chilling effect of the compressed air used to operate the gun.
To overcome this difficulty, the Atlas Diesel Co., Wembley, have developed the LE750 air heater and the FV30 paint pre-heater for use with the company's ECC030 or 303 ,,spray guns. The 750-W. air heater serves to heat the air from the compressor from which it passes to the cellulose pre-heater attached to the gun.
A thermostat is incorporated in the air heater, the controL range being between 86' F. and 190° F. Tests have shown that with the thermostat fully advanced, the air temperature at the gun nozzle is between 160° F. and 170° F.
