• Seddon Motors Ltd, Atkinson Vehicles Ltd and Atherton Bros Ltd are to be amalgamated into one company to be called Seddon Atkinson Vehicles Ltd, from January 1 1974. The central hq of the new company will be at Oldham where additional offices will be built containing marketing, export, engineering, personnel and central finance and planning.
There will be three manufacturing divisions, the Atkinson division at Waltonle-Dale, the Seddon division at Oldham and a Component division, which incorporates Atherton and the component production at Oldham. None of the present manufacturing locations will be closed and the Group does not envisage that these changes will create any redundancies.
