• A lorry ban in Salisbury city centre is to go ahead although the council's own refuse vehicles will be exempt. The move follows a public inquiry in January which looked at proposals for a 10:00-16:00hrs ban on delivery vehicles over 7.5 tonnes from the main city centre shopping area from June. The Freight Transport Association gave evidence, saying that there would be severe disruption for many firms delivering to the city. But an inspector's report concluded that there were "few commodities which could not be carried without difficulty on small lorries".
