QIIORTLY to he placed in service with Lambretta Concessionnaires, Ltd., Kingston By-pass, London, S.W.20, is an articulated transporter for scooters. It is a used outfit converted by Trojan, Ltd.. Croydon, Surrey. The vehicle consists of a. Bedford S-type petrol-engined tractor with Scarnmell coupling and a Taskers 24-ft. 8-ton dropped-frame semi-bailer.

The original timber floor of the semitrailer has been retained, but Trojan have added shallow metal side panelling, a headboard, a hinged tailboard, and an upper deck, which consists of ffiree pairs of hinged sections, which may be 'ftilded upwards to give sufficient headroom when loading and unloading the lower deck.

The upper-deck sections are hinged to 12 tubular pillars at each side and the deck boards are slotted to take the wheels of Il Larnbretta scooters. The rear of the lower deck also is slotted to take one scooter, the other seven being secured against wooden chocks. When travelling, all the scooters are lashed together to prevent sway. Spares and accessories can also be carried.

A davit is installed at the near-side rear corner of the semi-trailer for use when unloading scooters at dealers' premises. Loading at the Lambretta works is by forklift truck. A detachable prop is provided to support the davit when a scooter is being lowered, this fitting between the top side rail and the bottom rail of the lowered tailboard.

The semi-trailer, which is mounted on 10.50-16-in, (12-ply) single tyres, is based on the design of scooter transporters used in Italy. The Italian versions are larger. consisting of lorries and drawbar trailers, each capable of carrying 90 scooters. This new Unit supplements the existing Lambretta fleet of Morris four-wheeled rigid transporters.
