wiE much regret to learn of the IN death, at Manchester, of Dr. Harold F. Haworth, Ph.D., M.Sc., etc., on )une IS, at the age of 56, fol lowing an operation. Born in Liverpool, he joined Leyland Motors, Ltd., in 1920 as resident principal of the company's hostel for engineer apprentices. Educated at Liverpool and Zurich Universities, he held appointments at the City and Guilds College and the Imperial College of Science and Technology. At Leyland his great experience brought him rapid pro
motion and from 1929 to 1933 he was chief engineer.
It was a tribute to his adaptability that, although primarily a technician, he vi.as sent, a few months ago, to Riga, Latvia, returning with an order for 90 vehicles.
Lately he has, in addition to other work, been supervising the design and sales of trolleybuses and railcars. Ile was a man of fine personality, who endeared himself to all his colleagues and others with whom he came into contact.
