Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Following the first UK showing of its four-stroke Series-60 truck diesel at last November's Scottish Motor Show, US engine builder Detroit Diesel is now at a fairly advanced stage of operator trials in the UK.

Two Series 60 power units are currently running in Britain in operators' vehicles.

Detroit Diesel Overseas Corporation at Northampton will not name the hauliers or reveal which vehicles are being used. But CM understands that the two engines are an 11.1-litre version rated at 242kW (325hp) and a 12.7-litre rated at 272kW (365hp).

Both engines have air-to-air charge-cooling and Detroit Diesel's own electronically controlled fuel injection system.
