L'ORMS and instructions for claiming I relief from the 6d. fuel tax duty are now being sent to bus operators.
The Minister of Transport, who was questioned about the relief last week, pointed out that provision for the payments was being made in the Finance Bill. Pending the passage of the Bill, they would be made from an advance from the Civil Contingencies Fund.
'NO RENATIONALIZATION'
THE Minister of Transport had a short answer—" No "—when he was asked in the Commons last week to renatiOnalize private road transport.
The request had been made by Mr. Gordon Bagier (Labour, Sunderland South) "in view of the recommendation by the Road Haulage Association to increase its charges for the third time in eight months ".
