Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FEMALE MANAGERS in the distribution and logistics sectors are paid an average of more than £33,000 a year, according to a survey by the Chartered Management Institute.

This puts them at the bottom of a list of nine sectors in terms of women's pay — it's also £3,000 a year lower than the average for distribution and logistics executives in last year's survey.

But the overall number of female managers in these sectors is higher than the average for all industries: the survey found that 37.5% of distribution managers are women, compared with an average of 31.4% for all industries.

The proportion of female directors across all industries is growing; from 10% five years ago to just over 14%. The average annual salary increase for women was higher than for men for the eighth year in a row, but there are big differences in earnings depending on where you work.

The survey looked at nearly 22,000 women managers from 354 companies. 21 of which were in transport and logistics It indicates that the "glass ceiling" is giving way to what it calls a "boardroom greenhouse effect" as companies warm to the idea of women in senior management positions.
