Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

VOLVO is working on a gas turbine research programme to develop an engine turbine wheels compared with the conventional two-stage layout. which uses three The KIT system is based on an invention of Professor Kronogard. The theory behind it is that the power developed in this third turbine stage can go either to the compressor to increase its output, or to the output shaft to increase the power output directly.

Volvo, however, has gone to great lengths to stress that the turbine is a long term project and there are not yet any plans for introducing it on the vehicle market.

The prototype unit is currently developing 112 kW (150 bhp) with very good fuel consumption, according to the Volvo engineers. They believed that the two-stage turbine will have to wait for an increase to ceramic technology in the heat exchanger area to be able to compete. But no problems are anticipated in scaling up the design for higher outputs to enable the KTT turbine to be used in heavy vehicles.

The project was started two years ago to investigate the possible application of the three-turbine system in relation to the conventional turbine's theoretical advantages of low weight, low noise levels and the ability to burn different types of fuel.
