Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AGREAT advance in damper design is claimed by Newton and Bennett, Ltd., Valetta Road, London, W.3. Their latest type of shock absorber has a new bottom-valve arrangement to provide a more direct flaw of fluid than has been possible hitherto.

The valve consists of a thin flexible strip Of -spring steel which, when the valve is closed, covers two holes in the wall of the damper cylinder instead of the usual position at the bottom of the cylinder.

The strip is backed by a stiff steel plate and loaded by a strip-steel spring held under the head of the splitpin locating the whole assembly. Large ports allow a high volumetric efficiency to be obtained.
