B.R.S. (Parcels) to be Offered Next Month

NO decision had yet been reached on the future of the meat-transport unit of British Road Services, The Commercial Motor was informed this week. Both bids for it by Mr. George Dawson, the financier, have keen rejected, on the second occasion with the confirmation of the Minister of Transport. Its disposal as an entity

is a major problem.

The shares in B.R.S. (Parcels), Ltd., are expected to be offered for sale in the latter part of next month.

Assignments again occupy the greater part of the dealings in transport units reported this week.

Mr. 1-1. Parker, 18 Victoria Street, Liverpool, 2, has added another eight ex-B.R.S. vehicles to those he already has in service. They have a total unladen weight of 26 tons.

Direct repeat purchases have also been made by Messrs. Rostron Bros.. Wayside, Common Edge Road, Marton, Blackpool, of two lorries (15 tons); and Mr. T. Shingler, The Poplars, Liverpool Road, Bickerstaffe, near Ormskirk, one (31 tons). A first purchase, comprising two lorries (71 tons) has been made by Heywood Motors, Ltd., Birch Garage, Heywood.

Woodcocks Transport (Chorley), Ltd., Park Road Garage, Heskin, near Chorley, have taken over another 20 lorries, 17 (861 tons) of which came from Hacketts Haulage, Ltd., 229 Cross Lane, Salford, 5, two (141 tons) from ComberhillMotors, Ltd., Olympia Garage, Togs Road, Wakefield, and the other (3 tons) from Messrs. Fletchers Transport Services, 51 Park Road, Audenshaw, Manchester.

Hackeits Haulage, who have taken over a lorry (31 tons) from Tattersalls Haulage, Ltd., 25 Beverley Road, Fallowfield, Manchester, 14, have re-assigned it to Mr. S. J. Jones, 161 Rochdale Road, Bury. In turn, Tat tersalls Haulage have sold a lorry, a trailer and an articulated outfit (111 tons) to Hacketts Haulage, and other vehicles have been transferred as follows; one (71 tons) to Smalley and Simpson, Ltd.; and one (3 tons) to Mr. F. B. Carlisle, Bollington Hall Farm, Bollington, Macclesfield.

Two lorries based in Liverpool have gone to Allison's Transport (Contracts), Ltd., 119 Clepington Road, Dundee. One (5 tons) of these came from Cusick (Oldham), Ltd., 282 Frederick Street, Oldham. and the other (51 tons) from Mr. F. Horner, 4 Greave Close, Sheepridge, Huddersfield.

Mr. L. Gleave, Holly Bank, Audlern, near Crewe, has taken over another three lorries (131 tons), this time from Mr. J. Brindley, Hinckley,. one (4 tons) of which has been transferred to Mr. P. Hull, 88
