Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Brewer Carlsberg-Tetley has quashed speculation about the fate of its distribution operation by ruling out a move to a thirdparty system.

The planned merger of Carlsberg-Tetley with Bass, which was subsequently blocked by the Government, had fuelled speculation that the brewer would hand deliveries over to Tradeteam—the Exel Logistics/Bass joint venture.

But at a meeting last week with the Transport & General Workers Union, Carlsberg

Tetley revealed it would keep the operation in-house.

Brian Revell, T&G national officer for food and drink, says the two parties met to talk

about setting up a new agreement on terms and conditions

for distribution staff. "We certainly welcome the responsible way Carlsberg-Tetley is dealing with this," he says.

.17 The T&G wants to push for a better agreement for its 1,400 Tradeteam members. "This will be for the good of our members and also for the good of Bass," says Revell.
