Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LUCAS GIRLING is showing a disc application at gross weights from Show.

The brake is a reaction beam type which Girling claims will combine the benefit of sealed slides with an open top for good cooling and easy maintenance.

The brakes operate via two hydraulic pistons within the outboard beam which uniformly pressurise the identical inner and out pads on to the disc — the inboard pad by direct contact and the outboard by reaction through the beam.

The pad linings and other serviceable items are identical, front and rear, to minimise service inventory.

The brake assembly features a carrier casting bolted to the axle, straddling the disc to form dragtaking abutments for the linings on each side.

Sealed and lubricated support pins projecting from the carrier locate the cast clamping frame incorporating the hydraulic cylinders and pistons.
