MR. A. K. STEVENSON has been appointed Secretary of the Royal Scottish Automobile Club, succeeding the late Mr. R. J. Smith, whose , assistant he was for 38 years.
MR. R. W. BIRCH has been elected chairman of the Rhondda Transport Co., Ltd.,in succession to Mr. H. T. Barnett, who has resigned the chairmanship on medical advice but retains his seat on the board.
MR. G. PHILLIPSON, Durham City traffic officer under the Ministry of War Transport, has been appointed Middlesbrough traffic officer in succession to MR. THOMPSON, who has been transferred to Newcastle-on-Tyne.
MR. JOSEPH HEPWORTH, M.P. for Bradford East, of the Bradford Piston and Piston Ring Co., Ltd„ who has been suffering from a severe illness, is we are pleased to report, now making favourable progress. He recently left the nursing home in which he has been undergoing treatment.
Ma. II. D. DRYSDALE, at present chairman, of the Price Regulation Committee for South-East Scotland and Regional Salvage Officer for Scotland, has been appointed deputy to Mr. Archibald Henderson, the Regional Transport Commissioner for Scotland. He retired in 1938 and went to Africa for health reasons, but returned at the outbreak of war and volunteered for d uty.
Mn. J. S. WILLS has been appointed chairman of East Midland Motor Services, Ltd., in succession to Mr. S. Kennedy, who has resigned from the board. MR. R. P. Benoow has been appointed director. Under the arrangements for the reconstruction of Tilling and Bir it ish Automobile Traction, Ltd., East Midland Motor Services, Ltd., is now one of the large group of bus companies associated with the British Electric Traction Co., Ltd., of which MR. R. J. HOWLEY is chairman.
