associated W Burgoyne & Sons. have been adjourned by West Midlands LA John Mervyn.

Also adourned was the hearing of an application by Marjorie Burgoyne to take over W Burgoyne and Sons' licence after he heard that it had been evicted from its Craven Arms operating centre.

Last November, the two firms were convicted along with G G Crowther & Sons of failing to produce tachograph charts. Initial fines totalling £7,500 were halved on appeal to Shrewsbury Crown Court. (CM 22 November, 1986 and 7 February, 1987). Marjorie Bui-goyne's application was opposed by the owners of the operating centre, Prudential Property Portfolio.

Seeking an adjournment, Michael Carless, for the Burgoynes, said Prudential Property had achieved its objective as the firms were no longer occupying the site. It was, however, in the process of being sold to a Mr James who would allow them to return. He undertook to make inquiries as to the time scale, and inform the LA.

Mervyn Pugh says that he will be looking very closely at the status of Burgoyne to see she was not a 'front' for her husband. When she was contacted by the Traffic Area about the application she had referred them to her husband Lionel.
