THIS WEEK Edinburgh Corporation transport department became Lothian Region Transport. The new authority has co-ordinating responsibility outside the old operating area of Edinburgh, but for the present the Edinburgh buses— the largest municipal fleet in Britain—remain a separate unit. The new director of transport for the region is Richard Sottrill—former Edinburgh manager. The deputy director and general manager of Edinburgh city buses is Charles Evans— former Edinburgh chief engineer. Assistant directors are Neil Townend and David Codling.
