ENTRANTS from Glasgow, Norwich and Colombo, Sri Lanka have gained top prizes in a transport essay competition, open to participants worldwide.

It is staged by The Chartered Institute of Transport and organised by the Institute's Yorkihire Section.

The first prize in the competition of £300 was awarded to Mr R. Niblett of Glasgow, an employee of Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive. Runner-up with a prize of £150 was Mr A. Nelson of Thorpe Hamlet, Norwich, employed by Eastern Counties Omnibus Co. The third prize of £50 went to Mr J. Diandes FCA who is the Transport and Energy Advisor to A. I. Macan Marker & Co of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The 25 entrants were required to submit essays of not less than 5,000 words on the subject 'Your Transport Career — the value of Qualifications and Experience'.
