Edmunds endorses the opinion put forward by the Freight Transport Association's head of rail freight, Christopher Snelling, who believes that the scope for growth in rail freight is more likely to be in general cargo than in the bulk market.
"Rail has been affected by the recession in the volume of basic materials that it carries," she states.
