ACCORDING to "The Financial Times," the Government does not necessarily wish to limit trade union representation on the British Transport Commission to one member and may re-draft the appropriate clause of the Transport Bill to remove any possibility of misapprehension. The T.U.C. desires at least two union delegates on the Commission.

The Congress will not, however, nominate a member of the Road Haulage Disposals Board.

The T.U.C. has suggested that everyone in the employment of the B.T.C. on May 1 last should be able to claim compensation when they suffer loss, instead of having to serve for a long qualifying period.

EXPORT OPPORTUNITIES

r1A CALL for tenders for the supply of between four and eight singledeck 36-seat buses has been issued by the administrative committee of the Municipal Chamber, City Hall, Laureneo Marques, Portuguese East Africa. Quotations must be received by February 13.

The, vehicles, which should have metal bodies, are required for operation by the municipality, which is in an exceedingly damp tropical location.

The Municipality of Bagdad, Irak, requires 50 80-1,000-gallon cesspool and gully-emptiers. Tenders should be submitted to the Lord Mayor by February 21.

Details of these overseas trade opportunities may be obtained from the Commercial Relations and Exports Department, Board of Trade, Horseguards Avenue, London, SW. I.

HARTLEPOOL WANTS TO RUN SERVICE

PERMISSION to run a motorbus service between Hartlepool and West Hartlepool is to be sought by Hartlepool Corporation. There is a trolleybus service operated by West Hartlepool at the moment and Hartlepool receives a share of the profits. West Hartlepool has decided to replace the trolleybuses with motorbuses and, it is reported, to retain all the revenue.

Hartlepool representatives allege that West Hartlepool is adopting this measure as a reprisal against Hartlepool's refusal to amalgamate with the other town.
