• The Queen's Bench Divisional Court held last week that a 30-ton Euclid scraper used for earthmoving at off-road sites, but travelling occasionally by road to reach one site from another, was a motor vehicle within the definition of the 1960 Road Traffic Act.
In reaching this decision, the Lord Chief Justice, with Lord Justice Diplock and Mr. Justice Ashworth, upheld an appeal against a dismissal of dangerous driving by Hampshire justices. They directed that the driver be convicted on a charge of dangerous driving.
• Ten drivers were fined for hours and records offences at Altrincham magistrates' court on Monday following a Ministry spot check in September last year.
