At present the deputy general manager of Nottingham City Transport, Mr. Harrison commenced his transport career with City of Portsmouth Passenger Transport, and afterwards served with Middlesbrough Corporation Transport and Exeter City Transport. He left Exeter to become general manager of West Bridgford UDC Passenger Transport Department in 1953, and took up his present position with Nottingham in 1961. A. F. R. Caning, with the consent of BET, has agreed to act on behalf of the THC in respect of BET bus affairs during the transitional period (probably until the end of the year) in the takeover of British Electric Traction Co.'s bus interests by the Transport Holding Company. Making this announcement on Tuesday, the THC said this was to preserve continuity and to ensure a smooth takeover when the deal became effective; the THC intended to disturb the existing organization as little as possible at this time, and the company structure and managements would continue broadly as they are.

A. W. F. Simmonds has been appointed managing director, G. E. Neville and Son Ltd., a subsidiary company of Martin Walter Ltd. The appointment took effect on January 1. G. E. Neville resigned as managing director and from the board as from December 31, 1967.

Mike H. Canning, 34, has been appointed chief engineer, York Trailer Co. Ltd., Market Harborough research and development centre. Mr. Canning joined York from International Harvester. Frank Howarth, a district officer with the National and Local Government Officers Association, has been appointed a group officer with the Scottish Bus Group. I. G. Duncan has been appointed chief executive, Lansing Bagnall Ltd.. parts and service division. Mr. Duncan was purchasing executive for the company.

We record with regret the deaths of Mr. D. D. Borland, Mr. James Mitchell Ramsay, Mr. Ellis Smith and Mr. Arthur Wilkinson.

Mr. Borland, 73, was certifying officer and regional maintenance officer for the MT in the East Midlands Traffic Area from 1942 to 1960. He lived in Nottingham for many years before moving to Hythe, Kent. on his retirement.

Mr. James Mitchell Ramsay, 41, who died on Monday. was freight planning officer. London head office. Containerway and Road Ferry Ltd.

Mr. Smith, 71, of St. Mary's Street, Whittlesey, near Peterborough. had been in business as a haulage contractor for many years until his retirement.

Mr. Wilkinson, who died after a long illness at his home, March, Cambs, had been a haulage contractor for a number of years.
