The pensioner drove with a bright yellow lock fitted to his wheel, and nearly managed to get back to his home at Keynsham, near Bristol, before his Volvo careered into the side of a house.
Bath JPs were told how the man, who was unhurt in the crash, had forgotten the key to the lock on a trip to the post office. They tined him £100, ordered him to pay n5 in costs and banned him from driving until he retakes his test.
And they say wisdom comes with old age...
