• by Kevin Swallow Daihatsu has expanded its UK Net microvan range with two new factory-built bodies and a dual-fuel vehicle, as well as demonstrating a prototype 4x4.
The Hijet Big Deck has a larger load space fitted with aluminium side panels to keep as close as possible to the 790kg payload of its pickup counterpart. The overall length is up by 345mm and the width is up by 70mm; loadbed length is 2.3m and the Big Deck retains the 1,550kg GVW.
The petrol/LPG Hijet van is a fully approved conversion so 60% of the conversion cost can be reclaimed under the governments Powershift scheme. The current Euro-2 system costs 11,500 (ex-VAT) including fitting. Daihatsu is upgrading the conversion to meet Euro-3, which attracts a 75% rebate.
