Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A BRITISH STANDARD for flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs) has been introduced by the British Standards Institution.

The standard, BS 6382, should help the transport and handling of bulk materials in powder or granular form, particularly industrial chemical and mineral cargoes.

Part one of the standard specifies material, construction and design requirements for flexible single-trip and multi-trip containers, intended for use with non-hazardous solid materials.

Type tests are included for each design to ensure that the stated load capacity has an adequate safety margin to cope with possible distribution hazards. Guidance is also provided on handling, inspection and marking.

Part two of the standard has not yet been completed.

Copies of the standard can be obtained from the Sales Department, British Standards Institution, Linford Wood, Milton Keynes MK14 6LE. Price £10.50 (£5.25 for BSI subscribing members).
