Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ATIPPER with a capacity of 17 cu.-yd. has been added to the range of Scammell Contractor heavy-duty sixwheelers which are designed mainly for export markets. The new tipper is based on the 15 ft. 5 in. wheelbase model with Cummins NH 250 diesel engine and RV 30 eight-speed, semi-automatic transmission.

Payload capacity of. the model is 25 tons and internal dimensions of the body, which is built by Telehoist (Telehoist tipping gear is also used), is 14 ft. 2 in. long by 7 ft. 9 in. wide by 4 ft. 3 in. deep. The body has fixed sides with a top-hinged tailboard and is made from I in. steel plate with a in, floor. A cab guard extends 3 ft. 4 in. from the front of the body.

The Scammell rear bogie has a capacity of 30 tons and the side of the gearbox is protected by a heavy-duty guard. Two 48 gal. fuel tanks are fitted and if required an exhaust brake can be supplied.

AHEAVY-DUTY version of the Paravan which is particularly designed for delivery work has been announced by Dennis Bros. Ltd. This marks the return of the name Paravan to the Dennis model lists as it is some two years since the previous model was produced. The latest design carries the designation Mark II and, like its predecessor, it features facilities for easy driver access from the nearside and access to the driving scat together with access to the body from either side.

There have been a number of improvements in the specification, these including the use of the Perkins 4.236 80-b.h.p. diesel engine which drives through a Dennis UK close-ratio, constant-mesh, five-speed gearbox. Braking is by a vacuum-assisted hydraulic system incorporating a Clayton Dewandre Hydrovae servo and two-leading-shoe brake units are used all round. Brake sizes at front and rear are 12.375 in. by 5 in. and the total frictional area is 480 sq. in.

A stronger designed frame than the previous one is used and mechanical. components from other Dennis models are employed. For example, the steering box is the same as that fitted to the Pax V. whilst a sealed cooling system as on the Pax II is incorporated. A useful fitting for delivery work is a Kenlowe thermostatically controlled fan. The front and rear axles and also the springs have a higher capacity than before; dampers are fitted at the front axle.

Tyre equipment is 8-25-17, radial steel cord, and the laden frame height is estimated to be about 2 ft. 6 in.

The specification as detailed is rigid and no options are quoted. Only a 12 ft. wheelbase is available and the gross vehicle weight rating is 7 tons 10 cwt. With an estimated chassis weight of 2 tons 12 cwt. and body which would weigh about 18 cwt., this allows a payload capacity of around 4 tons.
