Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ETMC OIL SEAL CODE • The European Transport Maintenance Council (ETMC) has launched its new recommended code of maintenance practice as a way of providing commercial vehicle operators and vehicle and component manufacturers with a set of guidelines on a wide variety of topics.

The first code, or guide, on oil seals gives recommendations on their selection, storage, removal and replacement.

Other topics soon to be the subject of a recommended code of practice include bearings, fuel economy, garage tools and equipment, tractive unit and trailer compatibility and coach safety.

All these subjects were discussed at workshop sessions at the recent ETMC conference in Hamburg (see pages 34-36).

The next scheduled code will be on bearings. Copies of the oil seal code are now available at a cost of 300 Belgian Francs (around 25) including a free ring binder. Operators should contact Leo Van Cauwelaert, ETMC Executive Secretary, ETMC, Jan Van Rijswijcklaan 166A, B-2020 Antwerp Belgium (Tel 03 237 3627).

FLEET OPERATORS GUIDE • The Factoring Services Group — a collection of 300 independent Motor Factors — has published a 40-page Fleet Operators' Guide which gives details of all those members which specialise in commercial vehicle parts.

Listing FSG members from Aberdeen to Plymouth, the guide gives full details on their address, opening hours, telephone numbers and product ranges and brands canied, along with any special facilities offered.

Information on the CV guide, or on FSG, can he obtained by calling Peter Cleaver on 0274 (Bingley) 565018.

BULLDOG REPAIRS • A new truck servicing com pany, independent of any vehicle manufacturer, has been established at Walworth Industrial Estate, Andover, Hants (0264 56485).

Bulldog Vehicle Repairs is an off-shoot of the TIR company Bulldog International Transport.

Managing director John Ward says BVR's 600m2 workshop can handle up to four tractive units over its two service pits. BVR will also specialise in trailer repairs.

Three full-time fitters are being employed initially, although the workforce is expected to increase as outside repairs and service work grows from the base activity of maintaining Bulldog's own Scania and Mercedes 38-tonners.
