THE opening of a new engine factory

at Eindhoven of Van Doorne's Automobilfabrick, N.Y., was attended last week by Sir Henry Spurrier, chairman and managing director of Leyland Motors, Ltd. The works covers 330,000 sq. ft. and it cost L11-m. to build.

Leyland 0.350 oil engines are being made there for D.A.F. vehicles. Van Doorne, who have the right to produce any standard Leyland engine, are interested in the 0.680 150 b.h.p. unit.

DLSC BRAKE FOR TRACTORS

AN innovation at the Smithfield Show, Earls Court, which is being held from December 2—December 6, veil be the exhibition by the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., of a Dunlop disc brake for tractors.

This is being shown for the first time on the company's stand. It is mechanically operated and is designed to give independent braking for each wheel. The friction materials used for the pads are impervious to moisture.
