Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A BENBECULA haulage firm in the 1-1,Outer Hebrides has been granted an extension of one of its B licences so that it can now carry goods to and from North and South Uist, Benbecula and the mainland via the car ferry.

The application by MacLennan Bros. was granted, with amendments, by the Scottish deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. A. B. Birmie, at Lochboisdale, South Uist, last week, The applicants claimed that since David IVIacBrayne Ltd.'s new car ferry came into operation, it was more difficult to get certain goods into the island. Objections were heard from MacBrayne and two Skye hauliers, Mr: Angus Stewart and Mr. Ewan Macrae.

The deputy L.A. was told by Mr. W. Shepherd, farmer and chairman of the Crofters' Union in Benbecula, that if they had a local haulier able to carry goods and livestock to the mainland, it would help the Crofters to get their sheep and cattle to the markets in time to get the best prices.
